AFA and CPA Australia Publish a Summary Report on ESG in ASEAN

Accountants must respond to pressing need for further action to prepare for impending implementation of mandatory sustainability reporting in ASEAN jurisdiction

AFA and CPA Australia publish a summary report from a Focus Group Discussion on ESG organised with select regional experts from the ASEAN jurisdictions in September. The discussion was aimed to gather insights from the experts on key ESG matters including key drivers and barriers to ESG adoption, the state of green finance, common misconceptions or criticisms surrounding ESG, unique environmental challenges faced by ASEAN countries, and cultural and socio-economic factors that may impact the adoption of ESG practices in ASEAN.

The report highlights the importance of ASEAN sustainable policies in shaping behaviour to alleviate potential supply chain disruptions and the pressing need for further action, especially with the impending implementation of mandatory sustainability reporting in many jurisdictions, which could strain the existing ESG expertise.
